At Tate Business Brokers our goal is to help you achieve your goal. If you are considering selling your business we want to be your trusted, professional partner in the process. If you are considering buying a business we want to assist you in the process of finding the right business for you.
Selling a Business
As professional business brokers and consultants, we take the time to understand your business and what your goals are. We then review the financial statements and other business information with you to arrive at the appropriate asking price for the business as well as the terms and structure of the deal.
Next we will develop a Marketing Brief for your business to be distributed broadly to prospective buyers, ensuring broad exposure and maximum buyer interest. The Marketing Brief does not provide enough information that a prospective buyer could determine specifically which business is for sale, but it does provide enough information that the prospective buyer can determine if they wish to pursue an acquisition further.
Prospective buyers are reached by Tate Business Brokers through numerous means. We have a proprietary database of hundreds of buyers that have provided us with Confidentiality Agreements and other financial and experience information; we purchase additional databases of buyer information; we network extensively with attorneys, accountants, private equity groups, public and private corporations, and high net worth individuals; we advertise on numerous business for sale websites; we advertise in numerous newspapers, magazines, and other publications; and we direct mail/email hundreds of buyers about business opportunities.
Those prospective buyers who pursue your business further will be provided with a Comprehensive Business Review, but only after completing the appropriate Confidentiality and Non-Disclosure documents as well as providing us with additional information that is used to screen buyer interest. We will answer buyer candidate questions as well as further evaluate interested buyers. This process allows us to locate the right buyer out of potentially thousands of individuals, private investment groups, and corporations.
After the right buyer has submitted a letter of intent, the next step would involve us arranging an initial meeting between you and the interested buyer for both of you to get to know a little about each other. If you feel that this buyer has the necessary abilities, motivation, and fit then we will work with the buyer to allow more detailed information to be exchanged, including site visits conducted in a manner to maintain confidentiality.
After verification of financial and operational representations and resolution of all issues, the purchase agreement is signed. Often the buyer will need assistance in finalizing financing, and we will be available to accommodate both the buyer and his lender.
When final due diligence has been conducted and financing is approved, we will schedule the closing date with you. We will review all final documents and follow-up on all items necessary to complete the transaction.
